Treatment is by insertion of extremely fine needles. The needles have a flexible shaft, made of surgical stainless steel. They are pre-sterilized, packaged in a sterile environment, and are disposed of after each use.
Often times, an individual does not feel the insertion of the needle however, when the needle makes contact with the “Qi” energy of the meridian and acupuncture point, one may feel a tug, dull-ache or sting-like sensation.
In Classical Five Element Acupuncture, needles are used to access the “Qi” energy of acupuncture points along a meridian. In most cases, the needle is immediately withdrawn and removed after its insertion. Needles in Classical Five Element Acupuncture are not typically left in for long periods of time.
